Information surrounding our key campaigns and how you can take action to end greyhound suffering

Fighting lethal tracks

Australian racetracks are lethal for greyhounds with thousands killed and injured every year.
Racing causes pain, suffering and distress as greyhounds constantly collide, fall and collapse.

Countries like the US are closing their remaining death tracks and taking action to have this abusive industry closed down. But in Australia, state governments continue to invest millions of dollars of public money into building new and unwanted tracks that ignore the industry’s own safety recommendations.

CPG exposes this animal welfare crisis through traditional and social media as well as challenging racetrack plans. We also provide the only consolidated record of the dogs that suffer injuries and are killed on Australian racetracks.

We need your help to oppose these dog-killing tracks.

End overbreeding

CPG believes that greyhound racing in Australia will be banned through a mixture of public outrage and changes to government policy.

State governments were committed to allowing greyhound racing to continue after its fundamental animal welfare flaws and corruption were exposed in 2015. This makes them morally responsible for the greyhounds who continue to race.

CPG holds state governments accountable by challenging their communication around the greyhound industry and informing the public of the ongoing failures in animal welfare protection. CPG does this through traditional media and social media and responding to formal state government and industry requests for input from stakeholders.

CPG also works with animal welfare focussed parties including the Animal Justice Party, the Greens and some Independents to improve welfare policy for greyhounds.
