The failed new “safe” track at Traralgon has resumed harming greyhounds after being closed for several weeks.

The Victorian track opened in January after a $6 million rebuild, half coming from public funds. The unique J-curve track by University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is designed to “optimise racing safety from the ground up”.

After the second death, and dozens of injuries, Traralgon closed on 2 March.

Racing resumed on 11 April, and six greys were injured, one with a serious leg fracture.

And one dog was about to race in a dehydrated state, but was stopped by the on-track vet.

The Traralgon toll up to 11 April: 2 deaths, 87 injuries (including 18 major injuries)

So it’s business as usual. Another “safe” track  inflicting pain on the innocent.

According to the stewards’ report for 11 April 2022:

Omega Hondo contacted running rail and sustained a left hind Pectineus/Adductor injury

Piece of Heaven suffered right hind Tarsal Sprain

Bearded Lady suffered a Right Hindleg Hock injury

Spy craft had a collision entering home straight and suffered a Left Hindleg Groin injury

Adrian had a collision, suffered Sand Toe on the Left Hind

Aubrey had a collision, suffered a Right Hindleg Tibia Fracture – 90 day stand down

Plus, Sweety Tweety was a late scratching due to dehydration on the advice of the on–track vet
