CPG collates its death and injury data from publicly released stewards’ reports in order to provide the only national data of this type available in Australia.

While stewards’ reports reveal the large numbers of greyhounds that die on racetracks, many more dogs are killed away from the tracks after being injured.

Details of 2024 on-track greyhound deaths and injuries are provided below.

Four-year-old Nandina fell at the home turn at Ipswich on 4 January 2024. She suffered neck and leg injuries and was killed by the on-track vet.

Racing Queensland removed the video from its website. This reflects the racing industry’s determination to conceal the extent of greyhound suffering. The only way to stop these brutal deaths on Australian tracks is to end greyhound racing.
